Fundraise

Help change lives in our community!

When someone chooses to fundraise for Turning Tides, it means more than just money. It means people experiencing homelessness know that their community is standing beside them. It means neighbours are pulling together to make sure there’s food on the table, a safe place to stay and the chance to rebuild a life with dignity. It means care, love and support.

Why fundraise for Turning Tides?

Homelessness is often more widespread than it looks. For every person you see rough sleeping, there are at least another 20 people in ‘hidden homelessness’ – sofa-surfing, staying in hostels or living in unsafe accommodation. And those numbers are on the up.

The cost-of-living crisis, rising rents and a shortage of affordable housing are pushing more people into insecure situations. In 2024, councils across England recorded over 100,000 households in temporary accommodation – the highest figure since records began. Rough sleeping has also increased by more than a quarter in the past year alone.

These numbers paint a bleak picture – but through fundraising you can help change it. Every pound raised goes towards:

  • Providing hot, nutritious meals for people who might otherwise go hungry

  • Offering safe accommodation and shelter

  • Access to counselling, mental health support and wellbeing activities

  • One-to-one keywork to help people find healthcare, training and long-term housing

  • Many other vital services that give people stability and hope for the future

Nick Coysh marked a milestone birthday by taking on a challenge – his very first marathon. He won the sole place to represent Turning Tides in the iconic London Marathon, and not only did he cross the finish line in an amazing 4hrs:01:10, he also raised an incredible £3,745 to support local people facing homelessness.

“Part of my motivation for wanting to take on the London Marathon was the fact that I’ve now completed a few half marathons and felt like this was the next step up to challenge myself. In the back of my mind I thought it would be great to complete a marathon before my 40th birthday.”

Nick had previously taken on the Southampton Half Marathon for Turning Tides and we’re so grateful for the way he continues to challenge himself to support our community.
