Faith groups have always been at the heart of Turning Tides. Our charity was founded through the compassion of local churches, and today we’re proud to be supported by people of all faiths and spiritual communities. What unites us is a shared belief in dignity, hope and kindness for those experiencing homelessness. By fundraising where you worship, you can bring people together and make a life-changing difference in your community.
How your faith group can support us
There are many ways you can get involved:
- Holding a collection during a service or festival
- Organising a community event, from concerts to coffee mornings
- Supporting our seasonal appeals, such as Harvest, Christmas or Lent
- Choosing Turning Tides as your Charity of the Year
- Encouraging regular or one-off donations to mark moments in your calendar
How we can support you
We’ll work alongside you to make your fundraising meaningful and manageable:
- Provide speakers (staff, volunteers or clients) to share stories and inspire your community
- Offer resources, materials and guidance to help promote your activities
- Share updates and impact so your community can see the difference they’re making
- Celebrate your support through our channels and events

Hilary raised £2,692 for Turning Tides by skydiving in 2024.
“My connection to Turning Tides is through my local church. Earlier in the year I was asked to be a mission partner for the charity – I went on the website to find out more about Turning Tides, and lo and behold there was this opportunity to jump out of an aeroplane – obviously with someone behind me!”
The tremendous amount Hilary raised went straight back into our services, helping people across our community.
Not every fundraiser has to involve leaping out of a plane – whatever you choose to do, big or small, your support makes a real difference.
