Harvest4Homeless

Harvest is a time for giving, thanks and sharing with others who are facing challenging times. It is an important festival for our charity and through the generosity of the community, we can ensure local people experiencing homelessness don’t go hungry.

Stocks at all time low and is having a critical impact on our clients so, we are calling on organisations and individuals to gift goods for goods this harvest.

We need your support to continue providing healthy and nutritious meals which improve health and immunity – essential for anyone, but particularly those sleeping rough.

Each year we benefit greatly from your kind donations. So, as we approach this Harvest Festival, we would like to share with you our food, healthcare and essentials items which are of most use, and value to our services and clients.

Who do we support?

We help people from Littlehampton to Shoreham, from Worthing to Horsham and out to East and West Grinstead. This includes meals for people who are currently living in our hostels, visiting our day hubs, as well as emergency food parcels for the most vulnerable in our community. We also provide meals for clients in supported accommodation, or for those who have just moved into their own home.

‘Your donations and kindness mean that many of our clients have been kept content and well fed during hard times. This is like a light in the darkness – this kind of help is priceless. Thank you, from everyone here at St. Johns, Burgess Hill, for caring and sharing’. Cavan – Health & Wellbeing Coordinator.

I never thought I would be homeless

If someone told me on my 60th birthday that I’d be homeless the following year, I’d have thought them ridiculous!

For 33 years I worked in care, mainly for elderly people with dementia, in nursing homes and post psychiatric wards. I think I’ve had what most people would consider to be a ‘normal’ life.

But then life took a cruel twist.
