Skywaves House and Clifton Road
We’re expanding our support for local people experiencing homelessness with two new properties in Worthing, set to open mid 2025. These developments are being driven through an innovative new partnership – the first of its kind – between Turning Tides, Worthing Borough Council, Worthing Homes and Homes England. Funding has been provided by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) via its Single Homelessness Accommodation Programme (SHAP).
Skywaves House
Skywaves House provides high-support accommodation for people experiencing homelessness with a local connection to Adur or Worthing. There are 21 apartments designed for those with complex needs, to be staffed 24/7.
Key features include:
– Self-contained flats with private kitchens and bathrooms
Empowering residents to live completely independently, minimising the tension and exclusions often seen in shared spaces.
– Four ground-floor rooms with private gardens
Offering accommodation for residents with dogs.
– Innovative multi-agency space
Including counselling and clinical rooms, meeting and learning rooms and a training kitchen.
– A trauma-informed design
Ideal for neurodivergent residents and those with a history of trauma or adverse childhood experiences.
Residents are typically supported for one to two years, with a goal of at least 80% being rehoused in planned moves.
Clifton Road
Our accommodation on Clifton Road will provide 13 flats with lower levels of support for those ready to live more independently – we refer to this as Move On Housing.
Key features include:
– Self-contained flats with private kitchens and bathrooms
Supporting residents as they take their next step towards independence.
– Access to practical skills-based support
Including financial advice, tenancy readiness and sustainment, digital inclusion, cooking groups and support in accessing employment.
– A brand-new, modern building
Creating a safe, welcoming, and comfortable environment for residents.
Residents will typically be accommodated for a period of two years, but may stay up to four years. We anticipate that at least 90% will be supported into accommodation through planned moves.
