Roffey Place is changing lives. Can you help us plug the fundraising gap?

“There are so many things to overcome. Getting water, getting food, and keeping warm can be really hard. I had to walk to petrol stations and would drink the water supply used for car radiators. At one point, I drank pond water and ended up in hospital. In the countryside and in the woods, you are away from everything. The isolation can be overwhelming.” | Frank

Can you help us get people like Frank – who struggled to survive rough sleeping in the countryside – inside and safe?

Turning Tides was given the go-ahead to refurbish Roffey Place in early October. While unoccupied, the building was extensively vandalised and damaged, requiring work worth around £310k. Our team, alongside a group of amazing volunteers, were able to get enough of the space ready to welcome the first residents in time for Christmas. And more importantly before the first of this winter’s severe weather kicked in.

But many areas still desperately need full renovation – including 10 bedrooms. Which means 10 people without a safe place to call home.

We have raised around half of the refurbishment costs but have a funding gap of around £150k to complete all the work. Please help this space fulfil its potential and become a safe place for local people to transform their lives.

I feel like a human being again.

I can see a plan ahead of me now. I see every step as part of a journey – to the top of a mountain.

When I get to the top of the mountain I will shout at the top of my lungs “thank you” to everyone that has helped me.

At times in my life, I have had no one to help me – but through Turning Tides I have changed such a lot. I can start to trust again and see how people can care for one another. I feel respected. I feel like a human being again.
