
Horsham Outreach Navigator
Turning Tides is a charity that supports people experiencing homelessness in West Sussex. While our central office is in Worthing, our work spans the county – from East Grinstead to Littlehampton and across areas in between. With over 20 accommodation projects, community hubs and outreach teams, we offer local single adults tailored support to move towards a more stable future. We strongly believe in addressing the root causes for homelessness, so our specialist teams support in areas such as mental health, substance misuse, tenancy sustainment, IT skills, employment guidance and much more.
About the role
Based in Horsham but travelling around the district to meet people in their own environments, the successful candidate will work with people who are homeless and may have a variety of support needs. Working closely with outreach workers, the Horsham Outreach Navigator will support a caseload of clients, some of whom will have a history of disengaging from services, using a variety of techniques and approaches to build a relationship and develop a client-led, strengths-based support plan to help them out of homelessness.
About you
- Good knowledge and understanding of why individuals choose to rough-sleep, housing and homelessness issues and homelessness law.
- Experience of delivering support to people with multiple complex needs.
- Experience or understanding of the needs and challenges facing people who are or have been homeless and may be rough sleeping, including trauma; addiction, mental and physical health; exclusion and multiple disadvantages.
- Experience of managing a caseload of clients, working with them on your own initiative as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Knowledge and understanding of health and safety, lone working, safeguarding and confidentiality.
- Knowledge of, or experience of working with Housing First principles.
- An understanding of psychologically informed principles and practice, strength-based approaches and trauma informed care.
