FORTY FABULOUS PHONES FROM PREMIUM CREDIT LIMITED! FORTY FABULOUS PHONES FROM PREMIUM CREDIT LIMITED!

We’re thrilled to receive an amazing donation of 40 refurbished smartphones and five laptops from @premium.credit.limited (PCL) for Turning Tides’ Digital Inclusion Service! These will be a life-changing gift to people experiencing homelessness, giving access to vital housing, finance and health services along with the simple pleasure of keeping in touch with family and friends.

PCL’s Louise and Duncan visited our Roffey service and met with a resident who explained what it had meant to him to receive a tablet and digital skills support through the DI service: “This is the first time I’ve had a tablet. It’s like another limb now… I’ve learnt to do appointments on it. My eyes aren’t so good nowadays and the bigger screen helps. I’ve had a new grandson just after Christmas and I’ve seen him online – it’s lovely and means a lot.”

Increasing numbers of people accessing our services have had to sell their smartphone or don’t have the funds to replace old or damaged ones. PCL’s gift to 40 individuals will help restore independence and the ability to access essential services and opportunities to move out of homelessness.

At Turning Tides, we aim to tackle digital exclusion by offering devices and data, when donations and funding allow, along with digital skills support. But we can only do this through the generosity of organisations such as PCL who gave their time to refurbish the devices, and who see the benefits to both community and environment of recycling and donating devices. It’s an approach recognised in the Government’s recently announced #DigitalActionPlan which includes the development of a Charter for device donations by corporate organisations.

Are you planning a tech refresh? Benefit both the community and the environment by donating your old devices to Turning Tides Digital Inclusion service. Contact us at digitalinclusion@turning-tides.org.uk to find out more.
Our volunteers give so much to our organisation, w Our volunteers give so much to our organisation, without them we wouldn’t be able to do what we do. Thank you to each and every one of you. #VolunteersWeek

Volunteering can look like many things, whether you volunteer with your colleagues once a year or every week we thank you!

We'd like to say a huge thank you to the incredible corporate teams who volunteered their time to help set up our new 13-bed property on Clifton Road recently 🛠️ 🌟

From building furniture to dressing the flats, you collectively gave over 200 hours of your time – and we couldn't have done it without you. It was lovely to see staff from different companies coming together for the same cause: creating a warm, welcoming space for people ready to take their next step towards independent living.

A special shout-out to @paularosa_kitchens, who recently announced us as their Charity of the Year and joined us for two days of volunteering. We also had amazing support throughout the week from teams at @natwest,@bluebird_care_worthing, @lifeateq and @southernwatermedia, who all brought their energy and enthusiasm to the project.

Thanks to your support, the mobilisation was a real success and we’re now beginning to move people in. 💙 Thank you so much! 🙏
