Fundraising Events Administrator
A bit about the role:
The Fundraising team are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join the Events Volunteer Team. Our services are countywide, and we wish to increase our presence throughout the county. Fundamental to this is our attendance at community events organised by other organisations.
This role is overseeing the Events Volunteer Team ensuring that we have sufficient volunteer support at fundraising events in the community throughout the year. Additionally, we would like volunteers to feel prepared and supported to ensure they not only enjoy the experience but know it is also worthwhile.
As Fundraising Event Administrator, you will also be volunteering as part of the Communications and Fundraising Team, who will support you throughout. You will help us to connect with existing and new supporters and to be able to talk confidently and passionately about the work of the charity.
Whether it is hours or days, the time you give really will make a difference.
We need people who are friends and supporters of Turning Tides and who can confidently speak about the work our charity undertakes to foster better understanding and compassion in the community.
This vital role helps us to reach new people and inspire others to support our work while raising vital funds for the charity.
What will I be doing?
We need you to be able to effectively communicate with our current fundraising volunteers, to coordinate and support them as they help with us fundraising and promotional events throughout the year. We will support you fully to enjoy and develop your role and in turn you will support them to enjoy their experience of volunteering
You will be helping us by:
- Communicating upcoming volunteer opportunities and securing appropriate volunteer attendance for it to run smoothly. This could involve making phone calls, emails, and polls to coordinate and schedule cover.
- Promptly thanking our volunteers for their time after the event.
- Ensuring that all volunteers have the items required to run the stall or community event.
- Checking in and out any fundraising equipment used such as the gazebo, collection tins and cashless donation points.
- Working with the Community Fundraising Officer to ensure we are maximising fundraising opportunities in the community.
It is Turning Tides’ hope and expectation that as a volunteer you will:
- be inclusive and welcoming.
- communicate with staff on duty.
- be flexible to the needs of the staff member on duty.
- abide by the Confidentiality, Professional Boundaries and Health and Safety Policies always.
Times & Commitment:
This is a flexible and ongoing role. Events often fall on weekends and some travel will be required. Ideally it would be for a few hours every month, which would increase during the Spring and Summer months. The role could be grown over time and would suit someone that relishes connecting with others in the community and providing support to other volunteers to ensure their experiences are positive.
What Training will I receive?
Turning Tides offers volunteers training so your time volunteering is the best it can be, is as safe as possible, and of course adds value to your experience and to Turning Tides.
Every volunteer regardless of role will have their initial induction. During this induction you be taken through a PowerPoint presentation and be issued with ‘Not Just a Volunteer’ handbook. The induction will cover Professional Boundaries, Safeguarding and Equality and Diversity and be a chance for you to ask any questions.
This role requires the following additional training, and we ask that you can commit to this. (The training is in a variety of formats depending on the subject – a video to watch, a document to read or an online course).
Training | Format | Time commitment | Frequency |
GDPR | Online | 20 minutes? | Annually |
Manual handling | Online | 20 minutes | Annually |
Additional Information:
The health and safety of our volunteers and supporters are always our top priority. As the situation with COVID-19 evolves, we will ensure any volunteering you carry out is within current Government guidelines. We will support you in this so guidelines are met.
We need to ensure you are eligible to volunteer in the UK. To do this we will ask to see documentation that proves your right to volunteer in the UK at your induction. If you are unable to provide this documentation you will be unable to volunteer. If you have the right to work in the UK on a permanent basis you are also normally allowed to volunteer. If in doubt, please contact the Home Office.
All Turning Tides’ roles require two-character references. These references do not need to be employment references; however, we cannot accept references from family members.
