The New Me

How do we say or do enough to show the unconditional gratitude to Turning Tides, there aren’t enough thank you’s in the world. Turning Tides changes my life and my attitude to life. I started my journey at St Clare’s (read more) Turning Tides changes my life and my attitude to life.

How do we say or do enough to show the unconditional gratitude to Turning Tides, there aren’t enough thank you’s in the world. Turning Tides changes my life and my attitude to life. I started my journey at St Clare’s (read more) Turning Tides changes my life and my attitude to life.

I started my journey at St Clare’s where I was fortunate enough to meet the outreach worker and the mental health nurse, the care and attention I received from the centre was overwhelming from that first day and I haven’t looked back.

I spent two weeks in Rupert Bacon House (Short Term Assessment Hostel) scared, broken and lonely. I was introduced to Justine who was to be my care worker, an amazing lady who, to her credit, gets things done.

I stayed at the house for only a short time as I recovered enough to move on to the Stepping Stones Project which is a home that gives you more independence and at first, I felt I had been rejected again but that couldn’t be further from the truth. The houses were managed by Gemma and although she only has one speed (fast forward) love and empathy was always there for me even on the very few bad days I had.

I personally was not a victim of an addiction but we were all there for our own demons. I joined a music group organised by Ralph, I so love it and am able to continue after I leave the house.

I have met so many wonderful new friends, staff and residents. I have moved into my own little place now due to the massive help from Turning Tides and the Housing Outreach Co-Ordinator from the council. This is only a fraction of my journey and the start of a new beginning.
Without the support and help from everyone connected to Turning Tides I truly believe I would not have survived but now I’m ready I hope to move on and be a better person. As I said in my heading, what do you say to Turning Tides for saving me? Thank you isn’t enough; I will continue to support them always.
