A Different Life

At the beginning of this year 2013 I was looking at being homeless for a second time in my life and once again Turning Tides was there to provide help and support. Initially through the day centre with help from the staff which included breakfast and advice. After a very short time I was provided with a room of my own at Byron Road (Short Term Assessment Hostel) and give further support with my addiction anxiety and depression. With regular meetings with my key worker and with the substance abuse worker I was gradually able to make more sense of my life and where I wanted to be.

With regular meetings with my key worker and with the substance abuse worker I was gradually able to make more sense of my life and where I wanted to be.

After only 8 weeks at Byron Road I was able to move to Manor Road (Stepping Stones Project) and with a lot of support from the staff, especially my key worker, I came to the decision to move back to my home town and try and rekindle my relationship with my daughter. I have my own flat and I see my daughter fairly regularly.

Life is very different now thanks to Turning Tides. I owe them more than I can say and will always be in their debt. The staffs are dedicated and hardworking and deserve nothing but praise. I’m one of many that have been helped and although unfortunately there are many more people that need help, Turning Tides will continue to provide help and support for as many people as possible!

Turning Tides deserves more help and support with funding so they can provide the help that is need out there. I was lucky.

My very best wishes to everybody who works for Turning Tides.
