Move on Housing Support Workers
Location – Worthing and Littlehampton
37.5 hours per week. Core hours being Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm with flexibility according to need.
Permanent full time contract, job share will be considered
Salary £23,696 per annum
Turning Tides provides high support intensive housing services alongside lower level support housing services across West Sussex that meet individual client’s needs. In addition, we provide direct access to clients through our hub services where advice and support is provided through our specialist team of staff. A rapidly evolving organisation, the charity is central to the delivery of Recovery, Mental Health, Direct access hub services and Housing services across West Sussex although the largest proportion of our services are based in Worthing.
Reporting to the Move on Housing Manager you will provide support to clients in our move on housing which often acts as a stepped down, less intensive support provision from our 24 hour staffed services. The role will involve providing support to vulnerable clients across a number of houses in Worthing and Littlehampton as part of our move on housing support team. The services are a mixture abstinence and non-abstinent based services that adopt an asset based and strength based approach to working with clients.
You will be given the autonomy to develop and grow this role, delivering interventions and support to clients. Working with some of the most at risk and marginalised individuals in our society. The role will allow you to make a real difference in client’s lives supporting them into independent living providing a real sense of job satisfaction.
You must be able to motivate and inspire clients to make positive life changes. Possess the ability to work independently and as part of a team, taking initiative and responsibility for completing tasks whilst being able to communicate with a wide range of people. You must be able to take responsibility for making difficult decisions whilst managing challenging behavior using assertiveness and de-escalation techniques. Committed to extending your own professional competence and knowledge will be crucial along with the ability to manage and plan your own workload to meet deadlines and targets. Good computer literacy skills are essential.
You will have experience of delivering support to vulnerable people with multiple and complex needs and a good knowledge of alcohol, drugs and issues around addiction and relapse management along with knowledge of mental health conditions.
The role requires the effective housing management of our move on houses, ensuring that they are safe places to live. You will be responsible for ensuring that housing benefit claims are effectively managed and that clients pay their individual service charges.
You will link in closely with our intensive housing services and hub services in Littlehampton and Worthing and be part of a wider team that manage our considerable portfolio of move on houses across West Sussex.
