Turning Tides is a multifunctional homelessness organisation that works in Worthing, Adur, Littlehampton, Horsham and Mid Sussex. It has over 100 staff and 300 volunteers. Its mission is to end the need to sleep rough.
It is recognised that some of our most vulnerable clients in the Horsham District have unmet multiple needs which can often cause difficulties when trying to engage with services in a productive and long-term arrangement.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Outreach Team in Horsham, leading on the co-ordination of services to individuals who are homeless with multiple needs, and have been chronically excluded from services. This role has been funded by the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) through Horsham District Council.
The Support Co-ordinator (SC) will be responsible for engaging with individuals as part of the Outreach Team and Turning Tides Multi-Disciplinary Team. The SC will support people through their journeys into statutory and voluntary services. The post holder will be expected to navigate local service provision, building strong relationships with a range of different professionals whilst advocating on the client’s behalf. This role will also focus on supporting those placed into housing through the Housing First Model, those in temporary accommodation and those placed into other forms of accommodation such as social housing and privately rented.
You must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to manage and plan your own workload and meet deadlines and targets is essential. Good IT Skills are a must. You must have the ability to take responsibility and make difficult decisions in the face of dealing with challenging behaviour.
Due to the rural nature of the Outreach Service in Horsham, the successful applicant should ideally have a full driving license and access to a car. Mileage will be paid for travel required as part of the role.
