Why do you work for Turning Tides?
I have always worked with people in a wide range of roles and organisations including the voluntary sector, probation services and education. Before joining Turing Tides, I had the opportunity to co-produce & co-deliver a nature-based wellbeing project based on lived experience. To have the opportunity to work for a local charity which makes an impact in my community is inspiring. Turning Tides are flexible, encouraging and supportive. It is a very warm organisation that I have been welcomed into.
What do you love about your job?
The encouragement to be creative, put my own stamp on the role and share good practice from my previous work experiences. Every day is different.
As the Mentoring & Befriending Coordinator I really enjoy meeting new people, create matches between the Befrienders and Befriendees as well as working with colleagues who are passionate about their work.
What is something you are proud of?
This was during my first matching opportunity with a new client, where they found making eye contact at the start of the appointment, by the end they had made eye contact with me. This made me smile for the rest of the day.
