Night Shelter Volunteers
Turning Tides are a community led homelessness organisation that puts clients and local people at the heart of our mission to end homelessness.
Location(s): Littlehampton Community Hub, 1 High Street, Littlehampton, BN17 5EG (entrance via St Martin’s carpark at the back of the hall)
Time: 7.30pm – 10pm
The Community Hub in Littlehampton is open Monday to Friday throughout the year and offers a drop in service for anyone who needs access to our services. A breakfast service is available every morning.
We are extending the service we offer at the Littlehmapton Hub and it will become a Night Shelter from Monday 2nd December to mid 2nd March. The night shelter will accommodate up to 15 people both male and female. Those staying at the night shelter will have access to the hub between 7.30pm – 7am the following day. A hot meal will be served every night. The night shelter will run 7 days a week.
- To create a warm and welcoming environment for our clients.
- To prepare, cook and serve an evening meal. We would encourage you to eat with the clients too.
Additional requirements to be adhered to at all times:
- To be inclusive and welcoming.
- To communicate with staff on duty.
- To be flexible to the needs of the staff member on duty..
- To abide by the Confidentiality, Professional Boundaries and Health and Safety Policies at all times.
Flexible – some volunteers commit to one day per month, other volunteers commit to one session a week.
The full shift would need to be covered. (7.30pm – 10pm). We would welcome volunteers that wanted to stay longer, to chat with clients.
There is always a member of staff on duty.
Please note this role will require two character references.
Professional boundary and confidentiality training will be covered during the induction meeting.
