Littlehampton Breakfast Club – The United Reform Church, 1 High St, Littlehampton, BN17 5EG


Monday – Thursday 8 am – 10.30am

Project Background:       

Littlehampton Community Hub provides a vital service to those that are homeless, vulnerably housed and on a low income in the Littlehampton area.

We provide a number of services that work with some of the most entrenched and vulnerable people in the local area, including a Breakfast Club, Women’s group, and drop in service and support from specialist members of staff. This support includes budgeting, CV writing, housing advice and emotional support in areas such as mental health and substance misuse.

Organisations such as Change, Grow, Live (CGL), ADC Housing Options, PAUSE and MIND, drop into the hub regularly to give clients advice and support, and make it easier to access these services for the first time. Our Early Intervention and Assessment Worker does a drop in at the Job Centre on Friday mornings to support clients with any benefit enquiries.

We run groups such as ‘meat and eat’, a cooking group which has been co-produced by clients, volunteers and staff, to learn basic cooking skills and have a time for clients to be able to communicate with each other as part of the community. We focus on client feedback to enable the development of new groups and activities to support client wellbeing.

Role Purpose:

To cook and serve breakfast for our clients attending the breakfast club, whilst helping to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Main duties:

  • Cooking hot breakfast items.
  • Welcoming our clients and taking their breakfast orders.
  • Making hot and cold drinks and promoting a welcoming environment.
  • Taking plates and cups, loading and unloading the dishwasher.
  • Reporting to staff members any problems.
  • Assisting with kitchen duties.

It is Turning Tides’ hope and expectation that volunteers will:

  • be inclusive and welcoming.
  • communicate with staff on duty.
  • be flexible to the needs of the staff member on duty.
  • abide by the Confidentiality, Professional Boundaries and Health and Safety Policies at all times.


Flexible, either one morning per week or one morning per month.

Support offered:

As part of this role, volunteers will be provided access to Food Safety Training.


Please note this role will require two character references.

Professional boundary and confidentiality training will be covered during the induction meeting.
