Established 30 years ago, Turning Tides is a multifunctional, complex needs homelessness charity. Our mission is to end local homelessness.
We have gone from supporting a handful of people in the coastal town of Worthing to providing a range of services to over 1,700 people in Worthing, Adur, Littlehampton, Horsham and Mid Sussex. We have over 10,000 supporters, 300 volunteers and 160 staff members to date.
We’re currently looking for a Recovery Housing Coordinator who has a strong background in working with people who are in recovery within a residential setting. Primarily based in Horsham, however the role links in closely with our residential and outreach teams in Horsham and Mid Sussex, to ensure that effective pathways are developed for those accommodated in the service.

The Role
This role will involve providing personalised support through individually negotiated and agreed support plans for clients, who require stable secure accommodation, in order to continue an abstinence based individual recovery journey. The support provided to clients within this service is psychologically informed and comes from a strengths-based approach.
About You
To join us as our Recovery Housing Coordinator, in addition to having experience in supporting vulnerable people within a recovery or substance misuse setting, will need:
- Good knowledge of housing, homelessness issues and welfare benefits
- Extensive knowledge of alcohol, drugs, addiction and relapse management
- Basic understanding of mental health and personality disorders
- Ability to motivate and inspire clients to make positive life changes
- Confident in working alone and in a team, taking initiative and responsibility
- Ability to manage difficult/ challenging behaviour using assertiveness and de-escalation techniques
- Good computer literacy skills, including the basic use of Excel
