Can you help your local homelessness charity, Turning Tides, feed people all year round with a donation this Harvest?
It’s really hard for people who are homeless to feed themselves. They don’t have much – if any – control over their diet, and are often forced to live on junk food or other unhealthy choices. And with food prices continuing to rise, more and more people are finding it difficult to get enough to eat. Let alone people who don’t have a safe place to call home.
Knowing that poor nutrition has a negative impact on people’s general health and wellbeing, Turning Tides works hard to overcome the challenge all year. People visiting our hubs for support are offered a hot breakfast, and often sandwiches and other food to keep them going through the day. In our residential projects people learn to cook as they develop their life skills.
Harvest has long been a traditional time for the community to come together and offer food to people experiencing homelessness. So by supporting Turning Tides with financial donations this Harvest, you will enable us to buy healthy, nutritious food in the most cost-effective way. Your generosity can have a direct, positive impact on someone’s health and immunity, making them better prepared to receive wider support on their pathway out of homelessness.
£10
will fill a bag of wholesome food which can last several days.
£30
will provide a basket of basics for the week.
£75
will pack a trolley with essentials for a fortnight.
“Turning Tides was a life–saver. The Community Hub meant that I could access a hot shower, clean my clothes, eat a hot breakfast – my only hot meal of the day. I was able to talk to and get advice and support.”
Become a Harvest Hero
Could your school be a Harvest Hero? We welcome schools to hold a mufti-day, or a ‘dress as a Harvest hero day’, and to make a small donation to Turning Tides in return. Did you know Monday 10th October marks World Homeless Day? A perfect opportunity to support your local homeless charity.
Throughout the month we can provide support to your school where needed, including a talk to pupils about the impact of their support during Harvest, as well as posters, activities and a video for assemblies.
If your school, college, workplace, faith or community group would like to support Turning Tides this Harvest, please fill out the form below and a member of our Fundraising Team will be in touch. Alternatively, please call us on 01903 680740 or email fundraising@turning-tides.org.uk

I feel like a human being again.
I can see a plan ahead of me now. I see every step as part of a journey – to the top of a mountain.
When I get to the top of the mountain I will shout at the top of my lungs “thank you” to everyone that has helped me.
At times in my life, I have had no one to help me – but through Turning Tides I have changed such a lot. I can start to trust again and see how people can care for one another. I feel respected. I feel like a human being again.
