Go the distance for homeless

Go the distance for homeless

Husband and wife team, Jean and Rob Mahoney have been involved for over ten years with Turning Tides. They are keen to get others to sign up to supporting this charity which believes everyone has a right to a home regardless of the difficulties and issues they may face in their lives.

Last year they joined over a 100 fundraisers and successfully completed Turning Tides annual fundraising event Go The Distance. They are now urging others to book a place at this year’s event where you can walk, jog or run 5k or 10k.

They believe everyone - any age or ability - can do the same as them. Neither Jean or Rob had ever taken part in an event like this before. They were delighted and inspired by the energetic friendly atmosphere. Rob fondly recalls their pre-walk warm up sessions when they were joined by a group of nuns who also took part. Their medals now hang in the hallway and have ‘pride of place’. They both signed up to raise funds for us.

Together with their church community they raised some £317.50 (exlcuding Gift Aid) towards the overall total last year of over £5,000.

You too can gain this sense of achievement, community involvement and ‘feel-good’ factor by signing up and modeling your medal when you cross the finish line.

Go The Distance takes place on Sunday 22 September 2019 leaving Beach House grounds – registering 9am – 10am – crossing the start line at 10.30am.

Bookings are now open so don’t miss out!
