Friends Group Volunteer
Turning Tides is a multifunctional, complex needs homelessness organisation that works in Worthing, Littlehampton, Horsham, Adur and the surrounding areas. We have over 80 staff and 300 volunteers. Our mission is to end the need to sleep rough.
Various – across Worthing, Littlehampton, Horsham and Shoreham.
Ad Hoc. Normally groups meet approximately every 8 weeks and organise 2 or 3 events per year.
To be a part of one of our “Friends Group” organising fundraising events for Turning Tides throughout the year.
Across Worthing, Littlehampton, Horsham and Shoreham we are very fortunate to have our “Friends Groups”. These are collections of supporters who organise various fundraising event for us throughout the year. Our friends groups tend to meet every 8 weeks or so and receive full support from our fundraising team.
It can be a great opportunity to gain experience in planning and organising events, as well as a nice opportunity to meet new people.
Additional requirements to be adhered to at all times:
- To communicate with staff on duty.
- To be flexible to the needs of the staff member on duty if these dictate that the duties of the Volunteer change slightly during the shift.
- To abide by the Confidentiality and Professional Boundaries Policies at all times.
- To maintain at all times the Ethos of Turning Tides, offering equal access to services regardless of gender, race, colour, religion, sexual orientation, nationality or ethnic origin, educational status or disability.
Flexible – usually 5 to 6 meetings throughout the year with 2 or 3 events.
Our Community Fundraisers support our Friends Groups and are always on hand with advice and guidance.
Knowledge of the work that Turning Tides do will be shared.
T-shirts, buckets, banners and literature will be provided to support you in your role.
Our Social Media Fundraiser will also ensure that your event is well publicised and shared with all of our Turning Tides Supporters.
Please note this role will require two character references.
Professional boundary and confidentiality training will be covered during the induction meeting.
