Established in 1991, Turning Tides is a community-led charity dedicated to ending homelessness. We empower homeless or insecurely housed individuals to achieve sustainable independent living.

We have gone from supporting a handful of people in the coastal town of Worthing to providing a range of services to over 1,700 people in Worthing, Adur, Littlehampton, Horsham and Mid-Sussex. We have over 5,000 supporters, 300 volunteers and 100 staff members.

We believe that everyone has the right to a home, regardless of the difficulties and issues they may face in their lives. We believe in showing people who need our help that they are not alone, that the wider community is there to support them and offer hope for a better future.

Following a successful partnership bid with Horsham District and Mid Sussex Councils to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) Rough Sleeper Initiative, we are seeking to recruit to a Community Inclusion Worker for Mid Sussex.

The Community Inclusion Worker (CIW), works alongside Mid Sussex outreach and specialist support teams and accommodation services, to focus on sustainable outcomes for individuals with low to medium support needs with a history of rough sleeping. The worker supports individuals in a range of areas including tenancy sustainment, life skills and access to community groups and support.

The CIW will predominantly provide a local tenancy sustainment service for advice, focusing on homelessness prevention and relief for those who have previously rough slept. Working in partnership with Homelessness Prevention services such as local council officers and other voluntary organisations.

This is an opportunity to make a real difference to vulnerable people’s lives within our communities through developing our Community Inclusion offer and service provision in Mid Sussex.
