Christmas Tree Festival

Christmas Tree Festival

This weekend we started off this festive season with our annual Christmas Tree Festival. Each year we invite local businesses, community groups and individuals to decorate a Christmas Tree at St Mary De Haura Church in Shoreham-by-Sea.

We were delighted that so many from the community came to enjoy the craft stalls, tombola, tea and cakes, vote on their favourite Christmas tree and support Turning Tides. There were a variety of fun things going on over the weekend, including Guess the Name of the Teddy-bear (his name was Bob), the very popular Lucky Treasure Chest and an amazing selection of homemade cakes!

We are very excited to also announce that over the weekend we raised £1684. This much needed money will go towards funding our projects for homeless and insecurely housed men and women.  Each year we support over 1100 people each year providing a range of services including a Day Centre in Worthing a breakfast club in Littlehampton, 8 Accommodation Projects and 5 move on houses.

The winner of the public’s favourite Christmas tree was Faith Trough Action! Their fantastic tree adorned with church mice delighted us all. The amount of effort that went into all their beautiful hand sewn mice was amazing!

Carol from Faith Through Action said “We had a great time creating mice for this year's tree and thank everyone who voted for us. It’s a privilege to support Worthing Churches Homeless Project however we can and we are already thinking up ideas for next year's tree and looking forward to getting behind their other fundraisers in the meanwhile.”

Thank you so much to everyone who took part, we are always so impressed with the wonderful decorations that are created and the imagination that goes into creating them!

Also thank you so everyone that came along to support us over the weekend and everyone that donated tombola prizes, made cakes, created amazing crafts and volunteered for us.
