Charity Shop Helpers

We currently have 2 charity shops which help raise vital funds for the charity. They sell a range of items including furniture, bric a brac and clothing. They also act as information points for anyone looking to find out more about our charity.


Worthing – 117 Montague Street, Worthing, BN11 3BP

Littlehampton – 65 High Street, Littlehampton, BN17 5EJ


Tuesday to Saturday

Morning session – 9.30 am – 1pm

Afternoon session - 1pm - 4.30pm

Role Purpose:

To support our Shop Managers in their roles and help with the general running duties of our shops. To create a friendly and welcoming environment for our customers.

Main duties:

Welcoming customers and serving them at the till.

Accepting general donations, sorting through the items, and pricing them.

Helping with the cleaning of the shop and the shop displays.

Additional requirements to be adhered to at all times:

  • To communicate with staff on duty.
  • To be flexible to the needs of the staff member on duty if these dictate that the duties of the Volunteer change slightly during the shift.
  • To abide by the Confidentiality and Professional Boundaries Policies at all times.
  • To maintain at all times the Ethos of Turning Tides, offering equal access to services regardless of gender, race, colour, religion, sexual orientation, nationality or ethnic origin, educational status or disability.


Flexible – one shift per week or one shift per fortnight.

Support offered:

Volunteers will volunteer alongside our retail team.

Till training will be given as well as customer service training.


Please note this role will require two character references.

Professional boundary and confidentiality training will be covered during the induction meeting.
