Horsham Events Volunteer

Turning Tides is a multifunctional, complex needs homelessness organisation that works in Worthing, Littlehampton, Horsham and the surrounding areas. We have over 80 staff and 300 volunteers. Our mission is to end the need to sleep rough in the communities in which we work.

Location:
Various – across Horsham.

Time:
Ad Hoc – Most events are evenings or weekends, we aim to be flexible.

Turning Tides Horsham Services:
Turning Tides have been working in Horsham since early 2016, helping people who are homeless and insecurely housed.
We have 2 Recovery Houses in Horsham, providing safe,  supported accommodation for up to two years for people in early recovery from drug and alcohol addiction.
Turning Tides also has an Outreach Worker in Horsham, their job is to take the lead with assessing and supporting rough sleepers, building rapport and developing relationships with those who have been hard to engage with.
With the collaboration of other local services we would like to see the opening of a community hub in Horsham that will provide support and access to other services for those most in need in the local area.

Role Purpose:
As Turning Tides work to increase our footprint in the Horsham area we will be hosting and attending various fundraising and community events throughout the year. The role of Events Volunteer will be to represent Turning Tides at local community events and fundraising events as well as supporting the Fundraising Team at Turning Tides events.

Main duties:
Duties could include setting up the event, running raffles and tombolas, greeting attendees or baking items to sell at our events.

Additional requirements to be adhered to at all times:

  • To communicate with staff on duty.
  • To be flexible to the needs of the staff member on duty if these dictate that the duties of the Volunteer change slightly during the shift.
  • To abide by the Confidentiality and Professional Boundaries Policies at all times.
  • To maintain at all times the Ethos of Turning Tides, offering equal access to services regardless of gender, race, colour, religion, sexual orientation, nationality or ethnic origin, educational status or disability.

Commitment:
Flexible – ad hoc, various events throughout the year.

Support offered:
The Fundraising Team are in attendance at events and will be present to support volunteers in their role.
Knowledge of the work that Turning Tides do will be shared.
T-shirts, buckets, banners and literature will be provided to support you in your role.

Requirements:
Please note this role will require two character references.
Professional boundary and confidentiality training will be covered during the induction meeting.
